Hi all,
I'm looking for some ideas on how I could get up to
date on the latest trends in the computer field. I was at
a computer place looking at a technician job. They had a test that expected
that one knew very specific information. This ranged from the latest CPU's
along with
comparisons and contrasts between Intel and AMD. Chipsets... Then there
was information about sound and
video cards/technologies... Operating system information,
spyware/adware knowledge etc. I'd like to learn about the latest
technologies in the computer hardware anad
software fields.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Online resources?
Reading material or ideas?
Thanks,
Bruce

Just common sales people are expected to know at least that much. Where have
you been?

I hope this doesnt come across as too harsh, but how is it you think you can
be a technician without knowing at least some of that?
Even computer hobbyists know a lot, even if they've never touched anything
inside their computer cases.

I do know this stuff for the most part. I keep up with
several technologies and fields... always doing my own
upgrades, customizing my own computer. I just wanted
to see what resources are most commonly consulted for
information on the lastest bleeding edge of technology. I used to use CPU -
as in Computer Power User but I'm not so thrilled with that any longer
thanks,
bw

Invest some $$ in a A+ Exam prep book.

If you want a LOT of computer links, go to

and scroll down to News. The ones above are the
ones I look at the most. I am biased toward AMD.
