HELP: STOP error - Inaccessible Boot Device

ntoskrnl.exe currupted. when try to repair or setup, no
HDD found.

no physical damage when check in bios and scandisk. can
only read NTFS when boot from diskette and run ntfsdos.exe.

can't find HDD driver for DCXA for ibm thinkpad 600E (2645-
4BU).

can any one here help?

very frastructed for not able to find a driver and repair
the machine.

Hi, Alex.

The most common encounter with Stop 0x7B, Inaccessible_Boot_Device, is
during Win2K Setup. It usually happens when we are trying to install Win2K
onto a computer using as a boot device a hard drive/controller whose drivers
are not included on the Win2K CD-ROM. This happened a few times when Win2K
was new (4 1/2 years ago), and more often in the years since, as new types
of HDs (SATA, ATA133, etc.) have appeared and become popular. My own SCSI
host adapter (Adaptec AHA-2930U2) was new when Win2K first arrived and I
always had to use the F6 key to install its drivers from a floppy each time
I installed or reinstalled Win2K. Drivers for this AHA are included on the
WinXP CD-ROM, so I don't have to do that any more. Installing an exotic
HD/controller as a secondary drive is not a problem, but if you plan to boot
from such a drive, then you must add its drivers using F6 during Setup.

Are you seeing Stop 7B during Setup? What kind of HD are you using as the
BOOT DEVICE?

If Stop 7B is occurring at some time other than during Setup, please post
back with details as to what is happening when you see this BSOD.

Was the original setup an upgrade from NT4? This machine is quite old (PII)
and might have had a special driver from NT4 which got migrated during
setup.
