I"ve been searching for an answer to this error on this site with no luck.
I've just built a new computer and I'm installing WinXP Pro SP2.

When i get down to the last phase of installation, when the final saving is
done, the computer hangs. When i reboot, this is the error I get.
I don't know if the memory is at fault or the video card.
Anybody run into this before. Any help is appreciated.

1.Remove some of the memory modules that are installed on the computer.
Leave at least the RAM that is required for the computer to start and run
Windows XP.

The recommended RAM to run Windows XP is 128 megabytes (MB). The minimum is
64 MB, and the maximum is 4 gigabytes.

For example, if two 256-MB memory modules are installed on your computer,
remove one of the memory modules.2.Restart your computer, and then run the
Setup program:a. Insert the Windows XP Setup CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive,
start the computer, and then click OK to select the first option screen to
install a copy of Windows XP.
b. Click Accept, and then follow the instructions on the screen to
complete the Windows XP installation.
3.If you again receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms"
section, go to step 4.4.Remove a different memory module, or install the RAM
in a different memory slot.5.Restart your computer, and then rerun Setup.

You may have to restart your computer several times to identify the specific
memory modules that are not working correctly.

Does the complete Stop Error report mention any file?

Have you checked for updated third party drivers yet. Disks coming with
hardware do not always contain the latest drivers. Also you may find
there are later drivers for your motherboard.

You might try disconnecting all hardware except keyboard, mouse and
monitor. It can be better to keep the hardware minimal until you have
the operating system installed.

Why are you suspicious of the video card? What model?

Hope this helps.

Second thoughts. I think it more the problem more likely relates to
faulty memory than a third party driver. Indeed have you installed any
drivers at the stage you have reached?

I thought it was the video card after reading posts on the site relating to
this error.
this computer has only 1 mem mod. I'll have to go buy another to test if
it's a memory problem.
I can't even get Windows to setup, let alone install anything.

I had to reset the master boot record on the hard drive because i was
getting an NTFS.sys error. Got that fixed now I have a fatal error in the
Windows setup.

error code is 80096001 system level error while verifying trust.
error i got early, 0X00000024 (0x001902FE, 0XF7CDE984, 0XF7CDE680,0XF72EDEC7

Current error is 0X0000007F (0X0000000D, 0X00000000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000

I'm starting to think the mobo is no good.

Thanks for the help.
