I just got Dell Latitude D620 with XP (sp2) installed on it from
work. This thing is annoying!!!

When I closed the lid at the office, everyone was asking what the beep
was.... I eventually figured out that putting this notebook into
STAND BY causes this beep. The beep isn't a normal windows sound, but
more of a system sound. The beep is LOUD, LONG and NASTY.

Does anyone know how to turn this BEEP off?

Thanks....

Go to Start > Control Panel > Sounds, speech and audio devices and change
the sound scheme (for example rename it to 'Oldsounds' in case you want to
restore it).

This will disable all Windows sounds, but who likes Microsoft Music anyway?
