Help setting up emulator to access network

Hello,

I am trying to setup my emulator to access the webservice's on my
laptop. Can someone point me to a link or give me some help on how to do
this? I went to connections but the only items I can find are modems which I
don't have. I want to enable it to work with my laptop and network. Thanks
in advance.
