HELP! Setting default on reminders to postpone

Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to set the default on my
reminders to postpone instead of dismiss. When I am
typing and a reminder comes up and I press the enter key
it automaticly dismisses the reminder. Sometimes I don't
even know what reminder it was that disappears before my
eyes! This is dangerous being that I rely on those
reminders for all sorts of things. When I am touch typing
and looking at a document and not my screen I wonder how
may reminders have disapeared on me? Help! Does anyone
know how to change this?
