I have WinXP w/Outlook 2003. When I right click a file and choose Send
To\Mail Recipient, the feature does not work. I have got it to work one time
by going to Control Panels\Add Remove Programs\Set Program Access and
Defaults. There I select Microsoft Windows, (instead of Custom), restart the
computer and I can then send to mail recipient, but only one time. After
that I get the Error message, Microsoft Office Outlook, The operation
failed. This feature works when I select Outlook Express as my default Email
client in Internet options. Please can someone help! Thanks in advance.

Is Outlook open when you try this?

Hi, Milly, I tried this with Outlook open after your question and it worked
multiple times. Then I closed Outlook and tried it and got the same error
(Microsoft Office Outlook, The operation failed). I then reopened Outlook
and tried the Send to Mail Recipient feature several times with several
files and just kept getting the error until I restart, and open Outlook
before I use the Send To feature. It seems once I get the error I have to
restart to reset it. Any more advice? Thanks Gregg

I started having this same problem and cannot send mail via right click over
file & send to mail recipient. Hoping someone can help with this. I have
WinXP Pro, office 2003 pro - system all patched up.

I guess nobody is concerned about this problem. To me it's a huge
inconvenience. I found if I have Outlook open before I use the Send To
feature (right click a file) it works fine. But as soon as I forget to open
Outlook and try it (Send to) I get an error and the Send to feature will not
work again until I restart the computer under Outlook. It works fine with
Outlook Express but I haven't used Outlook express for my Email in years. If
anyone finds a fix please let me know. I need to use this Send to feature
with WinZip (Zip and Email feature). That is my main goal here but same
results with that. Gregg
