Help! Search companion freezes

Whenever I do a search...nothing happens. Even after waiting 30 minutes
I still have the "hour Glass" curser and it appears to be "Hung Up".
Any solutions for this? I have no idea of what has caused this.
Everything else works fine. Windows XP, 512 Ram, 40 Gig hard drive.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks for your reply but I spent over 2 hours following the
instructions but after repeated attempts still didn't work. Any other
suggessions or ideas?

That happened to me because of a program I downloaded, try uninstalling all new progams
