help! scratchy audio

can anyone help? i connect my camera to my pc using a pcmcia card that
provides firewire ports. but when i capture clips, the audio is
scratchy--almost static-like--and sometimes there are little squares that
appear in the video. what can i do?

What settings did you choose for capture?
dv-avi is best

blockiness in the movie is mainly due to dirty tape heads.
