new user with limited knowledge, I have transferred some
work onto a floppy and loaded it into my documents.
when I try to run them I get a message saying what
program was this done under. it turns out to be an excel
spreadsheet incorporated into a document.
how do I get it to open. Do I have to download something.
It being a microsoft product I thought it would all run
automatically. I used to use windows 98 plus.

Below is a link to a Microsoft page, where you can download a free (XLS)
Excell viewer program. This might be what you want as a program such as what
your file is would be able to pick up from the 'viewer' the information it
needs to display the Excell object.
