Setup:

2 x DCs
3 x IIS Application member servers
2 x clustered MSQSQL DB member servers
==================================================
Error:
==================================================
System error 1240 has occurred.
The account is not authorized to log in from this station
==================================================
Full Issue Details:
==================================================
After a recent issue with two of the three Application servers it became
necessary to patch all of the servers and was probably high time they
were brought up to SP4 anyway.
All servers were strategically brought up to SP4 and tested, post the
devlopment servers running SP4 on for sometime.
After the patching it became apparent that when trying to remotely
access Application Server 3(App3) using:
logparser
netbios share/net use
remote Event log viewer via native MMC plugin
remote Services viewer via native MMC plugin
that one of the ALL of the server could not be contacted.
Net use gives the error:
System error 1240 has occurred.
The account is not authorized to log in from this station
Netbios share via Explorer gives the error:
The account is not authorized to log in from this station
Nothing is logged in the event log of either the machine trying to
access App3 or of App3 itself, in any of the logs.
I've done a lot of poking around newsgroups and web pages to try and
find a resolution to this problem and as a result of this have tried the
following:
Method: Using Netdom reset to reset the secure connection:
Result: Failed
Method: Leaving and Rejoining the Domain
Result: Successfully rejoined domain, successfully reestablish the
secure connection (tested using nltest and netdom). Same initial issue.
Method: Leaving the domain, removing the account in AD, rejoining the
domain.
Result: Successfully rejoined domain, successfully reestablish the
secure connection (tested using nltest and netdom). Same initial issue.
==================================================
I would be extremely grateful of any help anyone can provide to fixing
this issue. Through my trawling through newsgroups and webpages it is
apparent that this is a common problem with no common fix at present.
Email addres just needs the dontspamorjunkme bit taken out to be usable.
Thanks
