Right need some advice, been having alot of trouble since i have installed
my radeon 9700 with games kicking me to desktop/reboots/monitor turning off
my system specs are as follows, this is on a clean install of XP Pro with
all correct drivers/patches/ bios settings i have checked all this, what i
want to know is about VBAT.

barton 2500
epox 8rada+ ( using usdm motherboard monitor software)
corsair pc3200 ( 5.2.2.2) ram
radeon 9700 ( cat 3.9(have tried latest omega drivers)
sparkle 300w psu

have been using USDM i keep getting a warning that my VBAT voltage is
exceeding limits.
what is VBAT & is this causing my problem, will a better psu fix this? all
was ok with my GF TI4400.

cheers for any info

There are a number of different "8RDA" motherboards, it appears you
made a typo and so a positive ID can't be made? If it's an 8RDA+,
which has no ATX12V, 4-pin 12V connector, it would be using 5V for the
CPU. Is your 5V reading low OR the 12V reading high, and by how much?

VBat is, "IF" reported correctly, the battery voltage. A low battery
voltage shouldn't kick you to desktop and reboot the system but would
cause loss of CMOS settings, in which case, replace battery.

Which Sparkle power supply model, and combined 3V + 5V rating?
It might help if you posted your 3V, 5V, 12V readings, both from a
motherboard sensor and from a voltage meter.

Is this problem easily reproducible, and would it still occur if the
system were temporarily set underclocked to 100MHz FSB?

You might also examine the motherboard for failed capacitors,
buldging, domed, vented or residue on the top or bottom. If you still
suspect the power supply you might open and inspect it as well, after
leaving disconnected from AC for a few minutes.
