When I get a list of the newsgroups available on this server
(msnews.microsoft.com), the newsgroup titles are truncated and only
partially listed in my newsgroup window.

As an example, when I get to this entry, there are probably 200 listings
that show as: microsoft.public. wind, with the rest of the title line not
showing. So, to find out what they are, I have to go to each one
individually, and then get back out if it's not one I'm looking for.

There's gotta be an easier way.

You have several options. You can drag the whole box (by the bottom
right-hand corner) so that it is bigger. Then you can put your cursor on the
divide between "Newsgroup" and "Description" (when it turns to a cross) and
drag the column width to the right. Or, just type in some of the name you
are searching for in the box called "Display Newsgroups which contain" and
it will list all the newsgroups containing those letters or phrase.

I see you are using "Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express". I'll
bet in Outlook Express, you can just move the cursor over to where the
newsgroups are listed, and right on that line that divides up the
window between newsgroups & titles in a highlighted newsgroup, you can
move that line, similar to resizing the outside of a window. Move the
line to the right to reveal more of the newsgroup information.

You might want to try a program that specializes in Usenet newsgroups.
Try "Free Agent" for text based newsgroups. With Free Agent, you can
{Z)oom in on any of the 3 component sub-windows & have it take up a
full screen and thus see more of newsgroups, or header titles. The
only drawback to Free Agent you'll notice is no spell checker.

And if you are on high speed Internet (broadband) and are going to
download music & movies from usenet here, buy the newsreader
"News Rover".
I won't get into it, but it is far superior if you plan on the
multimedia stuff.

Hi,

I see you're using Outlook Express 6, so it should be pretty
easy. The names are truncated simply because they don't fit
in the default space allocated for them. Look up at the top
of the ng display window and you should see vertical lines
(headers) identifying what's under it. Just grab tghe line
with your mouse and drag it to the right, or double-click
it, and you can get to see the entire title. OR, there
should be a orizontal slider underneath at the bottom of the
window that will let you scroll to the right to see what's
off screen. Sometimes you have to use that to get to see
the lines I was talking about.
If that's not what you meant, come on back and ask again.

Just increase the width of the window displaying the NG.
Put your cursor on the frame edge until it turns to a
doulble ended arrow then click and drag.
