Hi,
I have a single domain running server 2003, forest and domain levels are
2003. I have modified the default domain and the domain controller security
policies to rename the admin account to fbloggs.
At the same time I used active directory U & C and renamed the admin account
to fbloggs.
Shortly afterwards I started seeing 1202 extended errors and on searching
the KB it seemed that this error was occuring because I renamed the admin
account in AD U & C as well as using group policy.
I cleared the Domain and Domain Controller group policy rename box. I then
used AD U & C to set the properties on fbloggs back to Administrator. I set
all the attributes back to how they were originally.
Great, I can now login as Administrator. However when I view the
Administrator account I see FBloggs, when I view the cannonical name I still
see FBloggs.
Puzzled I re-instate the domain and domain controller security policy to
rename the admin account to fbloggs. This works and I can now log in as
fbloggs but the display name is still administrator - Why?
I also make use of SMS 2003 and my collections / advertisments are now
empty. I guess this is related to the renaming of the admin account.
Advice requested.
Andy.
