I had encrypted serveral files on my system which are stored on a secondary
drive (non system) and need to recover them after having to restore an older
XP image. I have my certificate and private key but when I use the
certificates mmc to add my certificate I still cannot access these files.
How do I recover these files.

Thanks!!!!

Have you compared the thumbprint of the encrypted file with the thumbprint
of your certificate? Do they match?

Unfortunately, these links do not help me. I've basically added my
certificate to the reimaged system and it's trusted. I've also verified that
my windows account is an owner of the resource along with the Administrators
group. I've disabled file sharing as well but still cannot decrypt the
files.

What can I do?

No I haven't I will tonight. If they don't match then what? I assume that
you think that they won't match but if they do, then what?
Thanks!

David,
The thumbprints are the same. Any ideas?

I suspect you don't have a private key for you cert. Is the cert and
private key available in the MY store of the certifcates MMC snap-in for
your user account. Can you export the certificate with the private key into
a PFX file?
