Does anyone know if there is a way in powerpoint to set a
presentation to be read only but still allow users to
select which slides to present (i.e. hide selected
slides). I am trying to send out a presentation and allow
users to select which slides to show for a particular
slide show but at the same time prevent them from
modifying the conent in any way.

Thanks you,

Gideon

Without password protection, making a file read-only won't really prevent
anyone from modifying the content.

If your file is protected, I can think of one option. If you have
specific sets of slides people will want to choose (e.g, some people will
want to see slides 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 11; and others will want to see
slides 1, 3, 6, 8, 11, and 12), you can set up custom shows and have a
button on the first slide that let's them choose which show. This will
work well with a limited number of choices but poorly if they have the
freedom to choose any subset of slides.
