Had to reload WinXP Prof because of memory failure. New memory tests 100%
after prolonged tests using MS test as well as Memtest.
Machine now has muliple ".. has been terminated. Sorry for the
Inconvenience" problems - maybe once every 30 minutes.
Seems random - nothing in particular seems to trigger it, and it seems to
occur with many different programs. When I look at the details, it seems to
be a bunch of different .dll modules - there is no constancy that I can see.
WinXP is fully up to date, and the MS Update shows nothing that is required.
McAfee does spawn it a little more frequently than other programs. Also
Outlook.
If I look on the web for replacement dll files to replace the ones listed,
then without exception, the ones offered are older than those already on the
machine.
Also get BSOD with tcpip.sys flagged. Tried the MS suggested reset of ip,
but that does not stop it from coming. Heavy web access does seem to
sometimes trigger that - but not always. Incidentally, after that crash, the
video resolution has been changed.
I tried to use the Repair facility on the XP disk, but it wants an
Administrator password. There is none. I have set a pw from the Control
Panel/User facility, but the Repair does not accept that either. So I can't
use the Repair, it just returns me to a C: prompt.
Have been unable to find anything on the Web or MS about general "Sorry
for.." problems.
