Anybody know how to get rid of the Prockill virus. McAfee just say that the
latest Scan Engine and dat should do the trick. The machine originally had
AVG free on it but it wasn't kept up to date (not my PC - thank goodness).
It's disabled AVG and wont' let me install and run McAfee TVD. It runs for
about 10 secs and shuts down. It's also infected with the NGVCK.a virus. I
managed to run the latest Stinger.exe on it and it detected and fixed
another 11 viruses (97 infected files). It won't run the virus checker in
safe mode, in fact I've tried everything I can think of. When the machine
boot up winfix and explorer close down and outlook express trys to run and
send out loads of e-mails. It's in a really bad state and runs like
treacle, but I want to try to avoid re-formating and starting again as the
friend who the PC belongs to doesn't know the ISP logonID and password for
it (her husband set it up and they're now separated).

Anybody any ideas? I'm at my wits end. However at least it now boots up
(eventually) Before running Stinger it was still trying to finish booting
after being left on all day. (It never actually completely froze though.

Machine is 233Mhz Win200 pro with 64MB RAM (a bit lacking on memory I know
but it ran quite nicely before becoming massively infected).

Thanks
