Hi, I'm having a problem saving a movie i created to my DV camera. Basically
i have a 54 minute movie that I want to save to my digital camcorder and then
from there hook it up to my tv and vcr and record the movie on a vhs tape to
ship to family to view. I went under the movie tasks section and selected
"send to dv camera" however when i do this it says "Windows Movie Maker
cannot create the movie file b/c it exceeds the 4-gigabyte file size
supported by current file system, FAT32......"

When I look in my video folder under my documents the movie maker project
size is 2809KB and when i go to save the finish movie to my external hard
drive it says it will be estimated 211MB.

I tried cutting the movie in 1/2 but it gave me the same message. Any idea
what i can do???? I don't have access to a dvd burner so this was my hope of
getting this video to family to see by sending it via VHS tape.

thanks for any help!!

HI,

I'm afraid this is more complicated that you
may realize. Forgive me if I am just confusing
the issue...and hopefully you will receive
additional suggestions from some of the
other contributors in this newsgroup.

First...just a thought...I'm wondering if you
have a video card with...TV Out...if you do,
you may be able to play the movie on your
computer...view it on your TV...and record
it on your VCR without having to deal with
the Camcorder.

Maybe the following article will offer some
useful info:

How To Connect a Computer To Your TV
http://www.techlore.com/article/10061

Now...back to the issue at hand...

Is your hard drive formatted FAT32? How
would you know? Go to...My Computer and
right click the icon for your 'Local Disk (C:)'...
from the menu...choose...Properties...on the
General tab...the File System will be identified
as FAT32 or NTFS. If it is FAT32 that would
explain the message you received about 4GB...
NTFS does not have that limit on file size.

a FAT32 volume to an NTFS file system in

Have you saved the project in a movie format?
I'm thinking you may still be working with the
..mswmm project file and that may explain one
reason why you cannot export it. And even if you
did manage to export it...the project file does
not include the source files.

So...you need to save your project in a movie
format...either .wmv or .avi...and I have no idea
which format your camera would recognize but
I would guess .avi. (.wmv would create a smaller
file size and may be worth a try also)

Here are some instructions...maybe they will
help you save the file in the .avi format. And I
suspect the file size will be huge.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next / Next.
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Good luck in sorting this out.....
