Hi there,

My kid was using my desktop and something must have been changed,
because now everytime that I download a program from the net, it's saved
as a Powerpoint presentation, and not as an exe.

Heck, It's even assigned the Powerpoint icon!. If I try to open same,
it tries to open as Powerpoint, unsuccessfully.

What's going on..? What can I do..? If I try to open one of the
resulting "exe.pps" files with a different program, there's none that
will it make open as exe.

Obviously, I'm a cyber-neophyte. Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

M

M,

Maybe the first thing to check is that PowerPoint is correctly told to open
your files. This link will explain how. And if it doesn't help, please
holler back.

While you're trying to figure out what is causing the problem, you can
correct it by opening Windows Explorer, locating one of the files, right
click on it and select Rename from the menu, and then highlight and delete
the ".pps" portion. Now you'll be able to open them normally.
