i reinstalled windows xp pro on my pc but every time it starts and gets past the black xp pro screen my monitor turns itself off????????? can anyone help me?

have you tried to run XP in safe mode and change your screen resolution
and/or change graphics driver?

when i trie to change it in display and all that it is set as default monitor and no refresh rate bit and the properties bit isnt highlighted? i cant understand it worked ok b4 i reinstalled it and it works ok in safe mode?

you can try this way:
- run xp in safe mode
- uninstall any graphics driver and use default/safe resolution and monitor
- restart xp in normal mode
- download and install a MS certified video driver from your vendor
(sometimes you can find it on windows update, but most of time this way
is crappy)
