Sup all,

I'm having a issue with remote assistance. People cannot connect to my pc
using it but I can connect to other peoples fine. I have disable norton 2002
internet securty and havent even used the xp firewall so that is not the
issue. I can use either the mail invitation or msn messenger to connect
with success. The error I most frequently get is connection cannot be
established and sometimes not often get a error cant establoish a host
name..something like that.

I have tried it in safe mode with networking support and still no dice. I
do have a issue with putting in a password when i send a email invitation.
It gives me a service has stopped error. Noit sure what the service is.

Well any ideas would be great on how to solve is, Im at a loss.

Thanks in advance :-)

Hi Marc,

How are you connected to the internet? DSL? If you're behind a router or
broadband modem, it's more difficult for others to connect to your computer.
For others to connect from the internet to your computer behind a router,
the router needs to open up a port and route it to your computer's IP
address. If this sounds like it might be the case, you may want to contact
your router manufacturer or ISP to make sure the hardware is designed and
configured to route IP addresses.

Hope this helps,
Drew

Hi Drew

Thanks for te reply. I amconnected to the internet by a cable connection.
I'm not behind a router, ex linksys, just a hub but that shouldnt be a issue
because a hub just passes the info needed from the isp to your pc. Like I
said i have disabled the software firewall already. So I dont know Im at a
loss.

How can I reinstall remote assistance?
