My first problem is that I keep getting an error msg that
kicks me out of the internet program. I have a registered
subscription that doesn't recognise my user name or
passsword on my computer but will allow me to log in at
work. I've been using the subscription for a year and no
problem. I've had this gateway since feb and only
encountered this problem since one of the kids downloaded
the pop up stoppers things.
Gateway Tech support said I had to re-download xp (after
backing up my files) to correct the problem.
Before I didn't get pop ups and now I get MORE THAN EVER
which is problem #2.

When I bought this machine everything was loaded
including windows xp, I still have the cd but it doesn't
recognize the converted hidden product number
(certificate of authenticity).

Is there anything I can do short of purchasing another
windows xp program. This is what gateway tech support
suggested. OUCH!!!

I'm really open for suggestions. Your help is greatly
appreciated.

You mention popup stoppers. These can interfere with screens like
password entries and the like. Try this: typically, the popup stopper
is disabled by holding down the control key. You can do this prior to
clicking the log on request. Alternatively, Start/Run/type:
msconfig/select the startup tab and uncheck the popup stopper
application and reboot. Try the log on again.

The error msg is:

The instruction at "0x6358601e" referenced by memory at
0x0000004c. The memory could not be read. Click on OK.
Then comes the error msg to send report and terminates
the program.

Thanks for the info about the pop up stoppers. What does
the above msg mean?
