I am writing to request support with my newly built PC, the person that built it updated all the drivers for the graphics cards etc and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the components in the case. He said that the problem might be due to SP2.

The problem is that the dreaded blue screen comes up stating that if yoiu haven't seen this problem before then restart your computer and that it might basically be a fluke. Then when XP home restarts, the send error report/ don't send report comes up. I have clicked send once before but it basically told me the same as it had on the blue screen. That was, if the problem continues it might be the hardware needing updating, or microsoft.

It occurs when:
*I am switching between users on XP home (using outlook express on both)
*after I have been playing a PC game for about 20 minutes, it appears the game just freezes. Sometimes the game just goes to the blue screen though (sometimes just literally a blue screen and nothing else- then resets.
*I wondered if it was the firewall to start with, so disabled my Microsoft firewall, and installed m own Mcafee one (which I know they said that there might be issues with this piece of software). This also seemed to cause problems, and when I restarted my computer after restarting, I couldn't get past the login stage where I clicked my name. In order to get around this I had to go to safe mode and uninstall my firewall.

Anyway, please help! :)

Nicholas

PS- how would I unistall SP2 if I wanted too?

hi nicholas

you can remove sp2 in add or remove in control panel
just select sp2 should be near the bottom of the list
and click remove.
try that, otherwise i think you might have a heat problem i.e. your blue screen.

disable restart on error and tell us what the blue screen says.

i'm putting a tenner on faulty ram module.

Have these problems just started since you installed SP2? Did you have no problems before that? Oh, and what's the spec. of your pc?

err, not quite Pikakilla ... that will only "uninstal" the new "Security Centre" it will not remove the other "fixes" incorperated into SP2 ... a clean install will.

Nicholas, follow Techy's advice first ...
Press WinKey-Break, Advanced Tab, Start Up and Recovery/Settings/System Failure/Unmark "Automatically Restart"/Ok/Ok.

Let us know what the error message says exactly.
