there is a small hole about 2mm dia on the front of the
drive push the needle in there CAREFULLY this should open
the unit automatically.
 
Don't know if this applies but my CD-RW had the same
problem until I downloaded an upgrade from the ROXIO
website (upgrading V5.0 to V5.35). Good Luck
