To stop Messenger from loading when you boot up, click
start\run, and type "msconfig.exe". Under the "Startup"
or "Services" tab, look for anything that is associated
with the Windows Messenger, then uncheck thier boxes.
If you want to temporarily disable it, press Ctrl+Alt+Del
to bring up the Windows Task Manager, then disable it from
either the "Applications" or "Processes" tab. Good luck.
