Help please

I'm new at this so please bear with me and apologies up front if I ask "comic
book simple" or dumb questions.
How does this forum connect with microsoft.public.office.setup or
microsoft.public.office.misc? Are they one in the same? Does my password and
name for this forum apply to the Microsoft.public newsgroups?
Any help or direction is always appreciated!
 
You can do it through the web based newsreader (as you are now) or you
can use an NNTP Newsreader like Outlook Express or Mozilla/Thunderbird.
Using a real (NNTP) newsreader it's much easier to access the
newsgroups, keep track of your threads and to search the messages. See

John gave you some good advice. Here's a bit more which will explain
about Usenet, etc.

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are
