Hi there, I've borrowed a pc off a friend and I can't get it to connect with
a broadband modem to the internet. The modem insists it's an isp problem and
that the ppp is disconnected and can be sorted out by going into the network
connections folder, except there's nothing in there. And everytime I try to
use the internet connection wizard it pops up repeatedly with a warning that
the connection wizard isn't finished and do i really want close it, no matter
how much i say no it keeps popping the window back up. When I tried the
manually configure your connection option it got as far a letting me name the
connection and then refused to accept any of the names saying the name must
have at least one character thats not a space and can't begin with a period.
No matter how many names I tried still no dice. Please help, it's driving me
batty. The computer has windows 2000 sp3. thanks.

Remove all entries to the network properties, shut down and remove the
network card, power up and let windows come to desktop,
Shut down and reinstall network card, power up
check device manager to see if network card has reinstalled correctly then
check network properties to see if all is ok

:
onboard (IE its actually connected to the motherboard) then turn
it off in the BIOS.

As for removing the properties
Right click Network on the desk top choose properties look for an entry
called "Local Area Connection" right click it and choose properties
Find the entries marked Client for Microsoft, TCP-IP, File and Print Sharing
and uninstall them.

Follow the instructions in the post
