I have an hp printer that im trying to hookup to my dell comp. I talked to hp
and they said, "It does not work because you have to have Microsoft .Net."
Well I tried installing Microsoft .Net and I get an error 1935 or something
like that. They said, "Error 1935 means you already have Microsoft .Net and
this one cannot overwrite it." So we tried finding it on my comp and could
not. So they said, "I dont know why Microsoft .Net wont overwrite the old
one, sorry cant help you try calling dell." So now I need help installing
Microsoft .Net without getting an error. Any help, Thanks.

Did you look in Control Panel/Add remove programs?

..Net should be there.

Also, go to Windows Update.

See if it detects .net

If not, it should present .net 1.1 as an install choice.

Thats why they couldnt help me, because there was nothing in add/remove
programs that had to w/ Microsoft .Net. And I installed the updates. The
thing is that the software that came with the printer installs Microsoft .Net
while the printer is being installed. But the installation fails because
Microsoft .Net cant install. And Microsoft .Net cant install because
somewhere on my computer there is already a Microsoft .Net and the Microsoft
..Net that came with the printer cant overwrite it. I cant find Microsoft .Net
anywhere on my comp. but the error message i get means its somewhere. Any
ideas?

This is what I would do:

1. Go to Microsoft Update ( click the update button on the start menu ).
2. See if .Net 1.1 is listed as an update.
3. If so, go ahead and install it.
4. Then go in control panel to add new hardware.
5. When it comes time to find a driver, try and get it directly from
Microsoft instead of the CD...there may be an /unbundled/ driver that can
just work with your installed .net

If you look in Control Panel (switch to classic view, running XP?) Open
Administrative Tools. Do you see two Microsoft .NET icons (Configuration
and Wizard) there?

I've never seen .NET installed without those being present.

I got too the error 1935 during installation of .Net 1.1, independently of
the version (English or Polish). Apparently it is NOT installed (at least I
don't see it in the Add/Remove Programs window). I tried many times from
various addresses.
The message is: An error occured during installation of assembly
"MicrosoftJScript, Version="7.10.5000.0",
PublicKeyToken=.....FileVersion="7.10.3052.4"
WHAT CAN I DO???
