Help. I just upgraded Office '97 to Office XP
professional. All my settings for Outlook have
disappeared. How do I retrieve them? All my e-mail
addresses, profiles, etc.

All that stuff is in your "pst" file. When you fired up your new OL2000 it
created a new pst file for you and it, of course, has no data. You just need
to locate your old pst file and tell outlook where to find it. First thing
you have to do is change your folder settings so you can find "hidden" files
because your pst proabably has the hidden attribute. To do this, open
Explorer and click Tools/Folder Options/View and select "Show hidden files
and folders." Close that up and then do a search (Start/Search) for pst. The
search will likely find two pst files, the new one that 2003 just created
and your old one. The new one will be a small file and the old one, large.
Delete the small one and note where the old one is (folder/sub folder). Now
just start OL2000 and it will complain that it can't find the pst file.
Click browse and point to your old pst location and you're in business.
