I am a big fan of the Sidewinder Strategic Commander game pad. I use it for
flight simulators (aircraft *and* spaceflight). I'm even working on a game
concept that would make fantastic use the SSC.
~However~ the software provided with the device has a few weaknesses that
I'd like to see improved.
Is there *ANY* way to get details on what it would take to write a new
configuration/driver package to enhance the product features?
The ideal, of course, would be to have the source projects that build the
drivers and configuration utilities. This being such an old product (and MS
not providing a new driver in 2-3 years), I don't see any real reason for MS
to *not* be willing to share the details, but you never know. Paranoia runs
rampant in large corporations.
Next to that, I'd like to know what it would take to replace the driver that
converts SSC button presses into keyboard macros. I could write my own
configuration utility - but I don't know how to replace the driver.
Thanks for your help in this!
Sincerely,
Earl Brown
