Hello,
My son has spent ages creating a PowerPoint file. There is approx. 400
slides. He tied to turn this file into a web page and something has gone
drastically wrong. Now he can't open the file. When he tries to open with
PowerPoint (2000) a message comes up that it can't read the file. Also when
you click the file properties normally the following is displayed:
General/ Summary/ Statistics/Contents/Custom

However, when you click the properties tab on this damaged file we can't
open, the following is displayed:

General/

We would be grateful to hear from someone who can help

Our operating system is windows 98.

Thanks

Adrian

For starters, try the suggestions here:

Recovering a corrupt presentation

Good luck - I sincerely hope one of the suggestions here helps.

Suggestion: while working on a presentation, periodically Save As to a new name
(ie MyPresentation_1, MyPresentation_2 and so on) so that if the current one
blows up, you have a fairly recently saved version as a backup.

Here's some info about a very useful addin that automates this for you:
