for some reason, all of my picture files have started acting up.

where i used to be able to just click to highlight a file name, and change
it to whatever i want, without changing the extension (jpg., gif., etc), now
it highlights the entire name, with the extension, and changes the whole
thing, rendering it unusable. so i have to just keep whatever name they have.
this has never happened to me before.

also, i noticed that when im viewing the files in windows explorer, a lot of
the names are listed in all caps (ie- DES709.JPG) when usually mine are all
lowercase (des709.jpg). maybe this has something to do with it.

how do i get my file names back to their normal function?? where all i have
to do is click and type? without worrying about changing it from a jpg? is it
maybe something i downloaded? i really hope someone knows how to help me.

if you need further clarification of the issue, ill try to describe it again.

In Windows Explorer go to Tools, Folder Options, View. Enable the option Hide extensions for known file types.
