not except the true pass word, is there anyone who would
help me on this? It worked fine for 2 weeks now then
whamO it does not except the pass word, thanks in
advance..Sandra

You might want to check with your host and have them reset your password.

Make sure your capslock is not on too.

Similar problem. My host upgraded to 2003. The domain
accepts the password, but the subwebs do not.

Check with your host to see if he upgraded. Mine says
it's a known bug, but no solution yet.

I can use WS_FTP with same user name and password, no cap
lock on, the only thing really I have learned it is next
to impossible to get help other than here and seems
everyone here is in trouble also, man I am lost and you
simply can't find a answer to this, I have searched
google, of course Microsoft for 8 days now and I won't
need Frontpage much longer if I can't update my site, I
just removed Pinnacle Studio 8 and trashed the CD's
becuse you simply could not get any tech help and I will
frontpage right along with it, but you cab bet Itell
anyone and everyone that listens or asks about a bad
program or service, I visit news group, chat etc, I was
warned about both of these, I am so tired of this
nonsense, you pay a price for some "good" software (not
some free html editor) and after you pay that is the end,
I know there is a simple answer but I also know I can't
find it, sorry folks I am just out of it with the tech
help you are suppose to get and Microsoft is the
worstwhen it come to help that a human can undestand,
thanks..Sandra

Bev the first thing I did was check with my host, I can
upload using a FTP cliant, here is what I need to know,
can I add a a password logon manually in FP 2002? I get
confused in the tools>web setting>database, does this
have anything to do with the passwords you use for each
web site you have, see when I first started this
information was all added including the host, password,
login etc, now all of a sudden none of that infor is no
good using FP2002, the password and login is good using a
WS-FTP, it is FP2002 and it can be configured but where
is my problem, tools? thanks...Sandra

First, FTP and FP passwords can be different depending on the host.

Second, if you have uploaded via FTP, then you most likely have corrupted
the extensions and you host will need to re-install them before you can use
FP to publish or open your web, then in the future DO NOT use FTP.

Have you tried opening the site on the remote server directly in FP using
File Menu | Open Web and entering http://www.yourdomain.com and then your
login info, click ok, then click Open?

Thomas thanks and Bev, I think you ae correct, I did
upload in a panic ftp and I assume I did corrupt the ext,
thanks a million and I will see where this goes, I have
the asa thing now but I am ryingto find a way to delete
it, it states my web pages are asa, I have no idea what
that means, all I know it explains my server does not
support asa...thanks again both of you so much for the
kindness...Sandra

Hi,
I am lucky to have a really responsive host. What we
found out so far is that when he upgraded to 2003,
everything worked just fine. Then he added an Apache
(file/module/?) to encrypt passwords. That's when I lost
ability to get into the subwebs. As of 5 a.m. this
morning, he still didn't know what to do about it--and no
one has answered posts on other forums--so I'm in hold.

Now as to your question. If I'm understanding correctly,
you are stopped at the password to upload. Does the box
come back up when you put in the password? That password
(in my case) is the one set by the host--so no, the files
in the FP program don't have anything to do with it.

First ask your host to reinstall the extentions--just in
case you corrupted them with the ftp install or that they
were corrupted before that. Weird thing will corrupt
them. Then if it still doesn't work, start a new thread.
Like you said we are all in the same boat.

I saw somewhere that 2003 used the 2002 extensions and I
couldn't find anything on this website about 2003 support,
so I wondered if he was premature.

It may have been the 2002 extensions, but I think he said
2003. The server is Unix with Apache. He also said that
FP98 wouldn't work with what he did. He made the change
about a week ago.

I am using FP 2000, so I'm still in the game. The first 5
or so days everything was fine. Then he added an Apache
file??? to encrypt passwords. That's when the subwebs
wouldn't accept the password.

Today, he sent an email saying he heard that the problem
is a conflict between Apache and the version of Cpanel he
had; so he upgraded that.

When I get home, I will find out if it worked.

There are no FP2003 extensions, FP2003 will support the FP2002 extensions.
