I am using Windows XP Home Edition. I am trying to
disable the System Restore because I have a virus in the
restore points. I have followed the directions of going
to "Control Panel", "System", "System Restore" and
clicked on the button that says "Turn off System
Restore". Here is the message I get...
"System restore encountered an error trying to
enable/disable one or more drives. Please restart your
machine and try again". I have done this over and over
and over and always get this message. I cannot turn off
the Sys Res now and still have a virus after several
months. Anyone with any help can reach me at
(e-mail address removed)

Thanks!

.
Have you tried to disable it in safe mode?

You could try reducing the size allotted to system restore. Then create a
couple new restore points so it knocks off the old ones.
