Hi All

I got the mosaic square while playing the movie in my DVD-ROM. My PC is
1.2GHZ fast. But I didn't have that situation while playing the movie in my
laptop's
DVD-ROM. My laptop is 650MHZ fast. Any possible reaons causing this
happen,
like the way cable is connected to the DVD-ROM or etc.

Appreciate that answers.

Unfortunately, even I tried 16 bit color depth and 800x600 resolution,
the situation still exists. But still thanks for the input.

All the IDE controllers have been set to DMA mode. This is situation is
excluded.

A 1.2GHz CPU and 256MB memory is plenty for DVD playback,
unless you have tons of other things running in the background.

That's wrong.

Your DVD player software will only ask for data when it needs it-
since it's playing a DVD, it really only needs to run at 1X to
display it. Snce the drive is capable is running at 12x, the player
will take chunks of data in little bursts when it needs it.

All processors fom P2-266 on up have been able to play DVD's
OK.

Does this so-called "technician" stand to make any money
off you if you do what he says?

He doesn't know what he's talking about...

If it hasn't already been suggested, try enabling DMA on this drive.
