This is my second posting for a problem that I have yet to solve. I
am presently in career transition and need to use Outlook extensively
as well as its advanced functions. Settings, views, user defined
fields and links are very important presently.

Here is my persisting problem:

"This form requires Word as your e-mail editor, but Word is either
busy or cannot be found. The form will be opened in the Outlook editor
instead".

This is the message that I get after installing and uninstalling a
demo version of the Outlook addin "eMAIL MERGE 4 Outlook".

I have tried:

1) the REGDEDIT solution as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q319796 but to
no avail.

2) Roady's suggestion to switch to <none> all signatures (I have also
deleted them just in case in Outlook and Word).

3) Support from addins4Outlook.com (distributor of "eMAIL MERGE 4
Outlook" suggested that I reboot, install and uninstall eMAIL MERGE 4
Outlook (making sure that Outlook remains closed so that no files are
locked).

Unfortunately, none of these solutions has worked. Outlook still is
unable to use Word as its editor.

Can anyone please help me? I am running Windows XP Pro with FrontPage
and MS Office XP (Outlook 2002).

If there is no other solution (and ONLY if), do I have to reinstall
Office *ack!*. If so, should I expect to loose all settings other
than rules, toolbars, and favorites? Will all email dates, user
defined fields and its data as well as links (to items and files) be
lost? There must be a solution !!!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Edgar

Hi Fred,

A repair of Office won't cost you any setting. It really sounds more drastic
than it is. You can start a repair of Office by File-> Detect and Repair
from any Office program, via Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs or simply
insert the Office XP CD. For al methods; keep your Office XP CD by hand.

Hi Roady,

Once again, thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that I ran the
<Detect and Repair> procedure available in the Outlook's Help feature.

I also did a Repair Office throught Control Panel--> Add/Remove
Programs when I tried solution 2 <the REGEDIT solution>. All to no
avail :-(

Hi Edgar,

Is there any other form of automatic text inserted upon creating a message?
It could also be that your virusscanner has a bit of a hickup when it checks
for virusses when you open a new document. Does it also happen when your
virusscanner is disabled?

Also check for any add-ins you could disable in Tools-> Options-> tab
Other -> button Advanced E-mail Options...

Maybe a long shot but make sure there are no virusses active on your
computer (note that some virusses can only be removed when Windows is in
safe mode)
