I have set up two Vista accounts on the computer. I have an account
and my wife has one.
But we both have the same email address.
She wants to be able to log into her account and access the email
without having to
log into my Vista account.
The problem is that my account is getting all the email and she is
very upset about it.
Shouldn't I be able to set up Outlook so that both accounts can
access the email equally?
Your problem is that you have your account set up to download and DELETE
messages from the setrver so that when your wife tries to get messages,
there aren't any left for her to see. Because you have separate mail
profiles and separate Outlook data stores, she can't see what you download
and you can't see what she downloads. You have a a couple of choices: one
is to leave copies of messages on the server so that her Outlook can
download them as well. This has the advantage of giving your completely
separate Outlook data stores, allowing each of you to have separate
calendars, contacts, tasks, etc., while allowing to to see the same
messages. Another choice is to share the PST, but obviously you both can't
uise it at the same time. This will allow you to share ALL Outlook data,
including calendar, tasks, contacts, etc. See this for information on that
options:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/olshare1.htm . You might also
want to look into each of you having your own mailboxes on the server (i.e.,
separate usernames/passwords when accessing the server) so that you can each
have private mail. Any mail service utilizing Yahoo, like AT&T or British
Telecom, can do this.
