When i upgraded from XP to Vista it had a custom setting for the virtual
setting But then decided to do clean install with Vista premium and now
virtual memory is set to automatic which i think is causing fragmentation on
my drive.

i have about 1.5gb of memory, 140gb available harddrive space and virtual
memory is set to automaictally manage paging file size for all drive. Can
anyone help me on what Intial size MB and Maximum size MB should i put on the
box for custom size?

Let Windows manage it. Those recommending manual settings are living in
Win98 and small 64-128k memory days. The only time I would change manually,
would be to put it on a different physical drive.

Hi,

While there is no real need for setting custom sizes, it is recommended that
the minimum size be slightly larger than that which you normally use.
Basically, how much paging are you actually doing? With 1.5GB of memory it
may be very little (depending on how you use the machine). While some pages
may still be allotted by some programs, the actual amount you are doing
could be inconsequential.
