a friend "tuned up" my laptop running W2k Pro..... Sure helped.
He changed some settings in Services and now I have a problem.

This laptop (Thinkpad) is my traveler and Portable Thunderbird always
goes along on my USB stick.
Any access to the USB stick is now extremely slow and reviewing email is
a real chore. Program takes forever to load, deleting an unwanted msg
takes about a minute.
Additionally, viewing the drive with Windows Explorer takes forever to load.

The USB stick works fine on any other computer so it is not the problem.

Any ideas on what Services to return to the proper settings?
Somewhere there is at least one Automatic/Manual/Disable set wrong.

I'd restore the registry with the backup you made prior to the tune up. This
page may also help.

Thanks for the links.... In reading through them, had an idea... went
and reinstalled the USB driver... actually the same one but forced the
renewal.... all fine now.
