Help! Number of files in a directory?

Help please, in previous versions of Windows, the windows explorer window
showed how many files were in the directory that was highlighted. I can't
find how to turn this on in XP.

An help appreciated, TIA

In Windows Explorer - View (menu)... Status Bar click to turn it on
