I installed the spyware beta program, ran the scan, and
blocked all spyware. Now IE comes up without ANYTHING but
the background - no icons, no toolbars, nothing. To shut
the computer off I have to just turn off the power!
Anyone else have this problem?

The Desktop is a program called Explorer.exe. You can try
and start it manually: Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select
Task Manager. Then File, New Task (Run) then type in
explorer and hit Enter.

Did that help? If it did then use System Restore to
return to a time before you installed AntiSpy.

If not (or if System Restore can't help) repeat the above
and type:
sfc /scannow
then press OK.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I'll be trying your
suggestions on my personal computer this evening (at work
now) Since I made a restore point last week I hope to go
back to it. I'll let you know.

Problem solved! Thanks for the help. I started in safe
mode (F8), was able to go to a restore point from last
week, and all is well. Think I'll wait a while on the
spyware program - I'm using Pest Patrol and it works fine.

Beth--just for reassurance, I'd recommend running an antivirus app with
current signatures on your machine--do a full scan.
