Hi,

I have a problem -- actually a problem user -- arrgh I wanna kill this guy.

anyway, he was paying around in Access2000 creating his own databases and
such - he decided to set up users with out going through the whole set up.
He createda few in the users Group , added himself to the admin group , and
removed admin from the admin group .

then he forgot his password.

Normally I'd say no big deal -- you busted your database -- kill it and
recreate it ..
HOWEVER,

Now any Access database hge tries to access asks for a user log on. he can't
log on to anything -- seems to have set up the users on his machine -- things
will work if accessing the databases form other machines.

Can someone help me?

If he did this to his default SYSTEM.MDW file, then delete it and replace it
with a clean copy from another machine. Or, just delete it and when you
restart Access it will create a new one.

This assumes that he did not really secure his databases, he just messed up
his MDW file. If you are able to take one of the mdb files to another
computer and open it, then this is the case.

Make sure to create backups before you do any of the above.

If you do delete the mdw and let access create a new one, it MIGHT require
the install disks. I have not tried it in many years, so I do not remember.

Thanks Rick,

i had some other things to do and figured letting him sit there for a few
days with limited capacity on his database might teach not to rush into
things in the future...

It worked, I did need the install disks but everything is fiune now.
