Help,no voice calls possible, why???? DSL to broadband cable

Hi, I (currently St. Kitts Caribbean) have MS Messenger 7 installed so has
my brother in Germany. I tried to call him, but only the webcam images go
through. No Audio at all or only short bursts of random noise.

We both ran sucessfully through the microphone and speaker configuration.

We have both a fast connection (Me a broadband cable TV, he a DSL
connection). I can download 10 Mb in about 5 Minutes. so the speed is there.

Why can't we talk? DSL to DSL in Germany it worked fine.

Any help? Thanks!!!!!!

When I was getting started with MSN Messenger 7, I had similar
experiences. The solution was to have my DSL Modem/Router
configured properly by my ISP, which they did by remotely
accessing my machine. I'm not an authority on this; I'm
just telling you what opened up audio for us.
