After many hours of ruling out a hardware problem, I
still cannot connect to the network or Internet, when I
had no problems previously.

When did this occur? Immediately after installing the
NetBEUI protocol and rebooting. A message appeared
stating the Winsock was reconfigured. Since then, I can
not connect.

I can ping outside addresses and other systems can ping
my system, but to no avail - no connection.

Please help, anyone.

firstly: get rid of NETBEUI and see if that makes a
difference

secondly: are you running any firewalls? disable or
uninstall them.

thirdly: try removing the network card from your system
(uninstall it from device manager) and re-booting. Maybe
even try a different network card if you have one that you
can use.

last: if you have access to a different browser try it

I already have removed NetBEUI, Firewall, and the
adapter. Reinstalled the adapter, but to no avail - I
still cannot connect. I can't even access the
network/Internet with any other programs as well. Never
seen this problem before.

Please help!

Remove and reinstall tcp/ip; you'll need the cd
