Hi there !
Can someone please help ! I'm pretty new at the game, and
I am not too familiar with hard drives and all the lingo.
I previously had Windows ME and to my knowledge,
everything was on Disk C. Now that I installed XP Prof.,
everything seems to be on Drive D. Problem is, I keep
getting warnings of Low Disk Space for Drive D
(System_Sav).This is what I was able to figure out from
the Control Panel:
Computer: Compaq Presario AMD ATHLON 1.00GHZ 128MB RAM
SYSTEM_SAV (D:) CAPACITY 2.72GB USED:2.56GB FREE:165MB
LOCAL DISK (C:) CAPACITY 53.1GB USED:3.58GB FREE: 49.5GB
Did I do something wrong when I installed XP ? Can I
transfer anything to Drive C since there is tons of room?
If yes, how ? If it would be easier to walk me through it
over the phone, I would be more than happy to pay the
long distance ! Or if you could e-mail me back at
(e-mail address removed) I would be grateful !

You could get a copy of PartitionMagic and manipulate the partitions. It
appears you have installed XP in the D: drive (as you likely now know). The
best thing to do is to reinstall in the C: partition.

Although I have never installed XP PRO it is my
understanding that when you do an update or install you
are given a chance to choose either Fat32 or NTFS and at
that time you can also specify the partition and it's size
where XP will reside. Try going back and reinstalling if
you can. Also you should know that 128MB of RAM is just
not enough. You will find that your OS is way down on
performance and doing a lot of I\O writes. In short you
aren't going to enjoy the eXPeriance. You should have at
least 512MB for your system to run smoothly and for you to
have all the available use of the OS.
