We just added a laptop running XP Pro to our network. We are trying to add
a networked printer to the laptop. When we install the printer, instead of
creating the network port, it uses the LPT1 Port. The printer is connected
to the LPT1 port on the host computer, which is running Windows 2000.

If I change the port for the printer driver on the laptop, it changes the
port on the printer on the host computer.

I have updated the printer driver! This is very frustrating. Any ideas!!

Thank you for your help in advance!!

When you open the properties of the connection you are open the information
on the remote machine. When you see the LPT Port it is the LPT port of the
machine where the printer is.

I sounds like you have a valid connection since you can remotely
administrate the printer. If you do not want others to admin the Win2k
printer, do not logon to the client with an account that has administrator
rights of the Win2k machine

Let the wizard do its thing.

1--Add printer.
2--Network Printer.
3--Browse for printer.
4--Choose a printer.
5--End of story....
