Help Needed

I recently purchased a used Dell laptop. The company
sold the laptop stripped. No programs, no operating
system. How do I get Windows XP loaded on the hard drive?

I have tried to load a older version that I have with no
luck. The system will not boot from the CD player or
recognize that the CD is ever there.

what a beating you took...not what I would call a class company to deal

You need to get into the BIOS and set it to boot to CD.
