Just recently noticed that when connecting to my ISP
"connecting to 127.0.0.1" flashes by in the taskbar: I googled it and it
seems to be a blog os some sort. Anyone have any ideas or directions on how
to remove this?? I don't remember ever asking to go there and certainly
don't want it there.

TIA

127.0.0.1 is the IP address used to communicate back to the computer
itself, and is otherwise known as the "local host". It's a way of a program
talking to another program on the computer.

If it's connecting to 127.0.0.1, it's essentially talking to itself. What
is doing the connecting, the Dial-Up Networking program, Internet Explorer
or some other program? It could be that your ISP's connection software (if
you have any) does this for some reason, in which case it will be benign.

HTH,

Adam Piggott.

ROFLMAO!!!!!

Sorry, but this is really funny.

127.anything is the loopback device. Connecting to 127.0.0.1 connects to your
own computer.

Most likely, you have an antivirus or other form of a proxy running on your computer.

To be on the safe side, try running an antivirus scan, and also a spyware detector,
such as Sybot Search & Destroy.

See http://claymania.com/nav-map.html for general info on anti-virus and trojans.

Zone Alarm runs a bit of Javascript by connecting to 127.0.0.1,
on iirc port 1031.

Some e-mail spam filters also use 127.0.0.1. Do you have one installed?
