I've just acquired an AOC LM919 display which comes with, among other
things, a DVI-D cable. The DVI connection on my ATI Radeon 8500 card is
clearly different to the DVI-D socket but I'm not sure what to specify
when ordering a new cable.

Can anyone throw some light on this. Also is there much to be gained by
using a digital connection? I'm delighted with the quality of the
current analogue connection.

DVI-I probably. Don't know if there is such a thing as a DVI-D to DVI-I
connector. You might hve to get a VGA-DVI converter.

I have a link saved in my XP install that talks about various cables for LCD
so will post it later for you. Can't right now as I'm using my Win98SE
install.

Thanks, but I solved my problem using Google to search for relevant
newsgroup discussions. Amazingly, the LCD monitor cable DVI-D connector
plugs into the DVI port on my Radeon 8500 card although they look rather
different. No problems encountered so far.

OK, but this article was about the quality of DVI cables. They all
don't give an equal picture quality. Still haven't found the article
and I'm back in Win98 again.
